Antigua, Guatemala

It is the end of the semester and we had a couple of talks about the trip to Antigua, Guatemala scheduled for the Spring break.
Like many others, I am thinking about how nice would be to go there. Consider the level of Spanish I know I am fully aware that will be hard to navigate in Spanish speaking country with the population that speaks Spanish and also 21 Mayan languages as well as 2 non-Mayan Amerindian languages.

I was astonished to find that there are 22 ways to say ‘I love you’ in Mayan.
Here is a linguistic map on just one country - Guatemala

One place I think we should go extra in Guatemala  is Tikal - Maya ceremonial center

Tikal is the largest excavated site in the American continent and contains some of the most fascinating archaeological remains of the ancient Maya civilization.
It is Guatemala's most famous cultural and natural preserve and was declared a national park in 1955 and a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1979
